Co-occurring disorders may have a primary diganosis of substance abuse or alcohol addiction that co-occurs with another disorder, such as, but not limited to, depression or anxiety, HIV/AIDS, or Hepatitis C. Sometimes a co-occurring disorder refers to a condition that may have begun with a mental health disorder, followed by self-medication with the use of street drugs or alchohol.
